How to Shop in Big Bad Wolf Jakarta (Tangerang Selatan) and not died trying

Some of you must have heard that famous Big Bad Wolf Books Sale that usually held in Malaysia is coming to the town. I am lucky enough to get the pre-opening ticket thanks to Jakarta Book Club so I can shop earlier and avoid the crowd, yes I always try to avoid the crowd when it comes to shopping including Black Friday Sale and Boxing Day. Here is my ticket:

So me and Golda went to the place last night or the night of 29 April 2016 to be exact. I'm too overwhelmed and forgot to take the pictures of what went there, but I found this picture on twitter:

Okay, so it's massive, like completely massive but I have some rules for myself so I only ended up with 5 books. You may ask, how I can do that or even if you want to have shopping spree at the Big Bad Wolf, how to shop the books without losing your sanity. Here are my tips:
Books that I have bought
  1. How to get there
Getting to ICE BSD where BBW located is easy. If you know how to get to Aeon Mall BSD, ICE BSD is close nearby. As a native BSD, I can tell the easiest way is by the Commuter Line aka the train. Took the green line train from St. Tanah Abang which will go to Serpong/Parung Panjang/Maja and alight in St. Rawa Buntu. You can took the taxi or ojek from St. Rawa Buntu. You can also get there by car and set your GPS accordingly, yeah I'm just too lazy. The BBW is on Hall 10 so kindly park your car around the area.
  2. Plan ahead
Know what you want to buy, how much your budget is and what is your circumstances. Books in BBW is completely massive so you might think that you won't get the same deal outside of it. I got 5 books for half mio and mostly thick reference books which is very tame compared to one person who spends around 40 million (for library I heard) there. If you have so many books and fortunately have Goodreads, I suggest to check ahead whether you already have a particular books on your hand before purchasing. What I did there is, since I'm gonna move abroad, I'm limiting myself to books that I think will be much better on paper (I can read fiction on Kindle) and to books that I think I will need on my new place such as books on food, how to fix things, etc
or maybe you can see the layout so you can plan ahead too:

  3.  Enjoy yourself
Take a deep breath and pick the books. If you are hungry, you can always board out the books for a while and took a meal around the area before continuing your shooping.
Happy hunting!

The Suburb and The City

I was raised in the suburb. As mentioning the particular name of the suburb will attract more question, I always say that I'm living in the city. It is much easier, much simpler, and attract less question.

When I was much younger, going out to the city is a like going faraway abroad. Considering that according to Google Maps it can took around 1 hour from Vienna to Bratislava, I think my sentiment is sufficiently well founded. As I am growing up, the city is the place where I can buy cooler stuffs and to hanging out with cooler people. A weekly treat and a break from the suburb. Now, the city is the place where I work and where I find my jam, my least favorite jam which is traffic jam.

The city is where I am becoming a drone with all my routine. I think at some point everyone has a fantasy to leave everything they have now and live somewhere "better". I heard about a girl who quit lawyer-ing and study cooking or reading an article where people leave everything behind. It's certainly not easy and some people do have familial obligation therefore, leaving everything behind and move faraway certainly not an option.

We do whatever we can do to survive. Maybe at the earlier stage we have an ambition to change the world or at least leaving a mark in this world. Trying to make sense of what is life, why do we live or whether we are truly alive. In the end, some people becomes a corporate drone and waiting for their monthly salary; another able to to pursue their less paid dreams but leave their mark in the world; some people able to have it all. It's matter of choice, efforts, luck and the combination thereof.

When I was small and live in the suburb, life is much-much simpler. I am yearning to become older and can do whatever I want. When I am older and work in the city, life is much-much more complicated. I am yearning for my younger years and the simpler things that I used to have.
